UrbanChain Group Deployed AI Camera, Payment Machine and UrbanPortal Solution for Multi-Zonal Parking Operations in Roppongi

UrbanChain Group is pleased to announce the launch of its smart parking solution at Uspace Roppongi, Tokyo, supporting a multi-zonal parking operation with AI-powered vehicle recognition, cashless payment infrastructure and centralized management through UrbanPortal.

The parking facility is operated by Uspace, a Taiwan-based parking and mobility company. UrbanChain Group supplied the core technology infrastructure enabling the operator to manage a complex urban parking environment with greater automation, visibility and operational flexibility.

The Roppongi site consists of 89 parking spaces across multiple zones:

Spaces 1–9: VIP zone

Spaces 10–71: regular zone

Spaces 71–89: on-road fast parking zone

The system supports zonal and dynamic pricing, allowing the operator to apply different pricing rules by parking area, usage pattern and demand conditions. This enables more efficient space utilization, improved turnover and better revenue management in one of Tokyo’s busiest commercial districts.

At the site, 24 AI cameras have been deployed, including 16 occupancy cameras and 8 pole-mounted cameras. The AI cameras recognize vehicle license plates, vehicle type, color and make. In current outdoor configuration, one camera can recognize up to four parking spaces, helping reduce hardware complexity while maintaining accurate parking monitoring.

The facility also includes two payment machines supporting both cash and cashless payments, giving drivers flexible payment options while reducing the need for manual operations. In addition, the site is equipped with nine U-lock parking locks, a flagship IoT technology by Uspace, for reservation-based parking, further supporting controlled access and premium parking use cases.

Through UrbanPortal, the operator can monitor parking occupancy, vehicle records, pricing performance and payment activity in real time. The platform provides centralized control for both day-to-day operations and longer-term parking optimization, helping Uspace operate the facility more efficiently and respond quickly to changing parking demand.
